When compared to the previous file and folder names in Mavericks, the Finder tags option provides a number of advantages. However, one disadvantage of tags is that your desired tag color is no longer shown next to the document description. This is because OS X doesn't know which one of the labels to utilize for the item color since it could only assign a unique tag to a document or file in OS X and before. So, let’s read about the Folderol review: Add color to your OS X Finder folders.

Folderol Facts

Mac software Folderol allows you to change the color of the folders on OS X with a simple click. In OS X Mavericks, the way labels are presented changed to tags, which are just little colored dots next to document and folder titles. A tool Apple used to provide on prior Mac OS’s, beginning with Version 6 for color Macintoshes, is brought back with Folderol. Folderol's built-in color picker lets you customize the color palette to match your personal preferences.

Folderol occupies only 0.7 Mb, indicating its effectiveness and ease of use from the get-go. The App's functionality is very unique. Is there a way to modify the folder color in an application? If so, what springs to mind when you imagine a context menu selection for that purpose? One of the features of this choice is the need for you to go through each folder one at a time to alter the color. Instead, we may use Folderol to choose from many colors and patterns to get the color we want. In addition, the following features are included:

  • Enhanced overlay of images
  • Folder and overlay colors may be separated if desired.
  • Replacement of the folder icon with a more refined version
  • Improved PDF viewing and printing capabilities
  • The help file includes some lovely images to use as inspiration. (Honestly, check the help file before continuing!)

Color Finder Folders on Mac OS X

Folderol's window displays a row of pre-selected folder colors; either click on one to select it or use the slider on the top to pick a new color utilizing the OS X color picker. The color of your choice is shown in the enormous drop-and-drag area above, no matter what you do. Drag folders in the zone, and Folderol quickly applies the proper colored-folder symbol to them all.

You may add a custom picture and color to a folder by dropping the picture into the Customized Image area. Afterward, you may choose a color and drag the file to be changed. Folderol >''' Tint &''' Tag is a handy feature that allows you to color-code folders while applying Finder tags. With this option set, put a tag description in the Tag area before dropping a folder into Folderol; otherwise, leave the label field unfilled to tag the file with its color name (for instance, Red). While trying to use Folderol to color and tag a folder, I kept getting the Finder tag "Highest*" if I entered "Highest" into the Tag box of Folderol.

Folderol, by default, simply allows you to edit folders. Folderol >''' Folders Alone allows you to reject that option and customize the file (but not the program) icon. Alternatively, you may use the Finder's Get Information command (File >''' Get Information) on the folder, pick its icon in the Info box, and hit Delete to erase a Folderol-applied colored folder. To accomplish this, click the no-color (x) option and afterward drag a colored file or folder back into the Folderol box.

A Few Caveats

Folderol just colors the folder, not the icon or name, as was the case with Labels in OS X and prior. As a result, Folderol appears to be something of a kludge: If you utilize Folderol on folders with aliases, you must use Folderol on the actual items, not their aliases; Folderol adjusts the alteration date of any file you utilize it on, and Folderol entirely replaces any folder's custom symbol with a colored-folder symbol. Lastly, it would be wonderful if Folderol colors matched Finder tags so that you could organize Finder windows by color.

Conclusion

The color of the system folders may be changed if you wish to personalize practically every aspect of the OS or if you like to arrange your life by color. Folderl is a Mac app that can be found on the App Store. There are additional apps that are even less expensive than the one we're going to show you today. On the other hand, Folderl It may be found at the Apple store, ensuring its quality and safety in terms of malware.
